Map making: 8.3 naming convention

A relic of a bygone era...the theory board is for discussion of game play, car design and map making. A place where seasoned vigilantes and fresh bell-bottoms can share their ideas.

Map making: 8.3 naming convention

Post by Lightfoot » Sun Aug 06, 2017 2:08 pm

It is *HIGHLY* recommended that all maps be named using the 8.3 (Romeo) naming convention.

Long file names (Joliet) are not supported in the Interstate '76 or Arsenal Pack editors due to a hard coded 13 character limit for the .TER file reference.

Any map with a .TER file name longer than 12 total characters (8 for the name, 1 for the . and 3 for the extension) will cause the map to crash.

(See: Sanctuary for Nitro Pack)

Good luck.
If only you could see what I've seen...
