Sorry about the outage!

Postby Lightfoot » Thu Jun 09, 2016 1:16 pm

Well, thanks to our usually stellar host we've lost a couple registrants and a days worth of posts.

Fortunately, we didn't lose anything *TOO* important.

Anyway, hopefully we're back up for another epic span of time without interruption.

Kernel panic, followed by corruption in the file system.

FSCK did not resolve the issue and the site was restored from the previous evenings backup.

Fortunately, this was all on the host and all I had to do was wait.

We did lose a couple registrations but I've e-mailed the concerned parties and hopefully they try again.

If not, it was a great way to weed out a couple spambots.

Thanks!

Nothing that they'd admit to me.

My bet is the array wasn't stable to begin with (since this is a new server to the package) and simply failed.

It could have also been a result of a massive attack on their network over the last couple days.

Like I said, not my problem so it was on them to get it fixed and it appears to be so.
