Um...

Yeah, about the sniffer...

Once you figure out what ports it runs on you'll be excited to know it's on a DYNAMIC system...reboot, retry and it's a different set.

Yes, it's lovely.

Though, you may be able to re-write the ANET2.DLL to work on a fixed port set if you were motivate...I think.

Uh...

As per almost every discussion about the game:

You can not play the game from behind a router.

Occasionally forwarding ALL ports and moving the PC in question into the DMZ will work but typically if you IP address startes with 192 or 10 you're ass out.

Uh...

Yeah...we've known about (and banned) the use of that "trick" for about 6 years.

The best part is that if you use it in a game full of veteran players the signature lag spike (and you not dying when you should have) gives it away.

Yeah...

...you ARE a moron... :x If you followed ALL the steps laid out for you on this board, Interstate '76 would run...no questions asked. With your USB devices disconnected, the audio card disabled, the video mode reset to native XP 640X480 and the game running from a copy of the installation directory ...

I'll test it under the disabled video device scenario and post up my findings... ...though as per AE's analysis, ...

Oh...

...just in case you're a complete moron and decided to play with the file permissions inside the install folder:

Right click on the folder where you copied your installation of I'76
Choose Properties
Uncheck Read Only

...try again.

Here's an addendum for those of you without deductive skills:

After clicking + next to Display Adapters if only one is listed ignore the steps for removing multiple devices and allow your machine to reboot.

Uh...

...does this really need an answer?

Come on, now...

It's a TEXT update that got missed. The server name doesn't resolve, games don't host, e-mails bounce back...

Is it me or is this just bloody obvious?

Uh...

...maybe it's because the only working server is BZ911.COM ? :?: ...and all you need to do to host a game on CLASSIC I'76 is to add YOUR IP address to the servers list and tell whoever you want to join what said IP address is... Just a reminder: If your IP address starts with a 10 or 192 you're ass ...

I don't know what kind of PC you're running but to date, you're the only one that can run in D3D under XP... I just retested an installation here based on your post and do not have access to any of the 3D rendering choices. Consider yourself fortunate to not be stuck in 1997 with the rest of us. :sh...
