I'm not sure but I may have it sorted. When they asked if I wanted their firewall I said no so I think that I have no router software (I sure can't find any) and so after typing in the proper address  I managed to stay online (though perhaps not visible) for a good 2 hrs or so. I'll keep check...

I wasn't actually arguing, I was just saying I didn't know. I was taking your word for it that it acts as a router in the sense that it hinders direct communication to my network card. My knowledge of computers is dated to say the least (want to program your C64 to water your lawn - I can do it) the...

Glide Wrapper

Anyone have experience with that Glide Wrapper. I set it up and it works for the most part but after a few minutes of playing I get some odd visual artifacts. It's like the wrong bitmaps are being loaded for stuff, the roads turn into billboards and the sky has a giant wheel in it... stuff like that...

That's ok, I'm working on access to a dial-up connection.

For the record I wasn't aware that a DSL modem was a router

I checked, I have no duplicate protocols or any other connections. Does that mean that everyone playing is on either cable or dial-up? Sounds like I should phone up Bell and tell them what to do with their DSL!! If I can't play Nitro online then I have very little use for an internet connection. Unl...

Dropping out online

Hi, when I try to play Nitro online I last for about 30 secs or so and then I get an asterisk on my screen, the camera spins around my car, and I eventually end up back in the lobby. I've gone through the forum for this and was hopeful when I found similar problems with solutions but I've had no luc...

How about a big corporation  JK. I think the problem with someone other than a big corporation or government being behind a conspiracy is that a conspiracy usually requires vast resources of some sort or another. Drug cartels have also been overdone. Aliens maybe .... nah been done. Wait an ide...

Keep up the good work. It seems to me that this last installment is the best to date. Maybe because the story is starting to develope and a little bit of mystery is introduced with the question of what's in the truck.

A nuke isn't a bad idea but it has been done :)

I had that exact problem. I was using a win98 install that was on my HD and it was working fine for a while then all of a sudden I couldn't play custom maps. After confirming the installation of them and still having no luck I ended up installing nitro through XP and everything worked fine after tha...

I think he may have two separate problems. I have a router but when I play I82 or Nitro I physically remove it and reconfigure my network settings. When my router is connected I drop out in about 30 sec. I've tried forwarding ports and even DMZing for I82 and it never worked for me (perhaps I did it...

Don't know if this'll help but when I had IO for I82 I just copied all the I82 files in the program directory to a new one and it ran without a problem. I think sometimes the resgistry crap is completely unneccessary. This was in Win98 and for I82 but it might be something to try :)

It's all good. I got in on Thursday night and had a blast. I need a lot of practice since Nitro and I'82 are so different and I never did get a lot of online time on Nitro due to a slow connection. But even if I don't get good .. fun is fun :) I still don't know about hosting cuz I'm afraid to try a...
